With Netanyahu re-elected as prime minister, the Israeli parliament has introduced discriminatory legislation against Palestinians to benefit Jewish settlers in the West Bank.
Israel’s parliament began voting overnight to restore a law that would make Jewish settlers in the occupied West Bank subject to civilian law while their Palestinian neighbors face military courts.
58 members voted in favor of this black law while 13 voted against it. According to the constitution, this law will be presented twice more in the assembly for final approval. If the law is implemented, the 475,000 Jewish settlers illegally occupying the West Bank will have the same rights as legal citizens of Israel, and the status of Palestinian citizens will become like slaves to the occupying Jews.
Yariv Levin, the staunchly Jewish Justice Minister of the Netanyahu government, expressed his grim determination to strengthen Jewish settler settlements, saying that we have begun to reclaim our right to the West Bank as well as the entire land of Israel.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Palestine described this black law as racist. He stated that the purpose of implementing it is to evict Palestinians from their ancestral homes by strengthening Jewish settlers in the occupied West Bank, which is a deliberate violation of international law.
