Due to the families coming from distant areas in search of peace and order and business in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the population of Peshawar has increased to 49 lakh 84 thousand. The resources for the locals have thus become scarce, making it difficult for people to make basic ends meet.
Due to the unplanned transfer, crises and electricity crises are increasing at an alarming pace, and the rent of houses has also become beyond reach. To accommodate the people, green spaces have been replaced with housing societies. The law and order have also been disrupted. It has become almost impossible for people to leave their houses in the evening, especially while carrying their valuable belongings.
Furthermore, wheat, meat, and poultry are also smuggled to Afghanistan, which has also contributed to the disrupted situation in the city. 100,000 kg of wheat flour and 5 hundred thousand liters of milk is required to meet the needs of the people per day. Whereas, the daily production is way less than the demand.
There is no long-term planning regarding the control of the population of Peshawar and if this series of expansions continue, the population might reach 6 crores in the next five years.
