Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Ghulam Ali took oath from caretaker Chief Minister Muhammad Azam Khan in Peshawar on Saturday.
Muhammad Azam Khan has had a long and luminous career as a civil servant in the Government of Pakistan. He has served as the Minister for the Finance, Planning & Development Department, Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). He has also served as Federal Secretary Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Resources and Federal Secretary Ministry of Religious Affairs.
Earlier, he held important positions in the KP government where he served as the Chief Secretary and Secretary of different ministries. Mr. Khan was educated at the University of Peshawar, following which he went to Lincoln’s Inn, London to complete his Barrister-at-Law degree.

Muhammad Azam Khan has been appointed as the caretaker Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa by Governor KP Haji Ghulam Ali on Saturday. Governor KP signed the declaration of appointment of Azam Khan after the government of KP and the opposition agreed on Azam Khan being suitable for the position.
On the last day of consultation between former CM Mahmood Khan and Opposition Leader Akram Durrani regarding the appointment of a caretaker Chief Minister in the speaker’s house, the provincial government and the opposition agreed to make former chief secretary Azam Khan caretaker chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to sources, Azam Khan’s name was proposed by the opposition, which was then approved by the PTI Chairman, Imran Khan. The Oath Taking Ceremony of Caretaker Chief Minister KP will be held in Governor’s House Peshawar today.
