Wikipedia, the encyclopedia website that provides free online information, has been overhauled after a decade. However, the change is quite subtle, most users might not immediately realize it.
Wikimedia Foundation, the company that owns Wikipedia, said in its article that the website of the encyclopedia platform has been redesigned on January 18. The company announced a change to Wikipedia in 2020 and had been experimenting with a new website design for the past two years.
Many changes have been made to its interface including its lines, font and language. For instance, the spacing between the lines of its content has been slightly increased to make it easier for everyone to read.
Users can now also choose their language by clicking on the language bar at the top of the screen and read the content in the language they desire.
Moreover, the color scheme of the content will now be personalised. Colors similar to the flag of the country the user is reading the related content to will appear on the lines of the page.
In addition to that, searching for a specific part of the encyclopedia website was never so easy as it is now. Users can now search for a phrase or content within Wikipedia.
According to the company, Wikipedia’s new interface is much more user-friendly than the previous one.
