Pakistan is expected to experience the worst gas crisis in history after the Italian liquefied natural gas group ENI announced that it would not be able to deliver the LNG shipment to Pakistan scheduled for Feb 6.
The news has immensely worried senior oil ministry officials as the country is already struggling with severe gas shortages. Gas pressure currently is either low or non-existent in several major cities.
Moreover, due to the shortage of gas, dependence on furnace fuel oil-based electricity is most likely to increase . Consequently, the end-users will have to opt for the expensive alternatives.
