Kashmiris around the world celebrated India’s Republic Day as black day today, which has sent a clear message to the international community that they reject India’s occupation of their motherland.
Jamaat Hurriyat Conference and pro-independence parties in India’s illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir had called for the observation of India’s Republic Day as black day.
Chairman of The Jamaat Hurriyat Conference, Musarat Alam Butt, from Delhi’s infamous Tihar Jail stated that despite its promises of mediation, India has chosen a violent path to suppress the aspirations of the Kashmiri people by force.
Moreover, he condemned India’s illegal and forced occupation of Jammu and Kashmir and said that the Indian rulers should let the people of Jammu and Kashmir decide their political fate through a free, fair and impartial referendum.
He insisted that it is the responsibility of the international community to take serious notice of India’s illegal occupation of Kashmir – a major cause of unrest in the region. He reiterated to send a message to the world that India’s illegal and forced occupation of their motherland is unacceptable to them.
A spokesman for the Democratic Freedom Party said in a statement that India is complicit in killings and destruction in Kashmir and has held millions of Kashmiris hostage at gunpoint and has no right to claim itself as a democratic country.
