The construction sector in the country is currently facing a massive decline due to unemployment and inflation. Due to poor policies and lack of interest by the present government, 80 percent of brick kilns which form the backbone of the construction sector, are closing down at a rapid pace.
A delegation of Pakistan Kiln Owners Association met former Prime Minister Imran Khan in this regard and informed about the problems faced by the kiln industry.
According to kiln owners, the cost of making bricks has increased due to the extraordinary increase in coal prices and the increase in the price of petroleum products. Out of the 11,000 brick kilns in Punjab, 8,000 have, therefore, been closed, while the remaining 3,000 are finding it difficult to bear the expenses.
Imran Khan assured the delegation that Tehreek-e-Insaf would come back to power and the kiln industry and construction sector would be given proper attention and cooperation.
