US Secretary of State Antony Blanken postponed his long-planned visit to China after the flight of the alleged Chinese spy balloon in America. The visit aimed at reducing the ongoing tension between the two countries. The US top diplomat, Blanken, was scheduled to visit Beijing from February 5 to 6 to discuss a wide range of issues including security, Taiwan and Covid-19.
According to a foreign news agency, US Secretary of State Anthony Blanken said that China’s decision to fly a spy balloon over the United States is unacceptable and irresponsible. The Chinese balloon is a violation of our sovereignty.
According to the US Department of State, close US allies were informed about the violation of US airspace, while a spokesperson for International Affairs Canada stated that they have summoned the Chinese ambassador over the incident and that they are with the Chinese authorities.
On the other hand, China has expressed regret over the flight of the balloon, saying that it is a civilian airship used for meteorological research, but it deviated from its course due to unfavorable weather conditions.
