Kashmir Solidarity Day is celebrated across the world, including Pakistan. It is to draw the attention of the international community to the relevant resolutions of the United Nations Security Council. Ceremonies, rallies, meetings and processions are held in different cities at public and private levels to express solidarity with the innocent Kashmiris and against the usurpation of India.
A 2-minute silence was observed as the siren sounded at 9:58 in the morning. The largest chain of human hands was formed on Muzaffarabad, Kohala Bridge. A large number of people, including children and women, carried the flags of Pakistan and Azad Kashmir in their hands. The main ceremony at Kohala Bridge was attended by representatives of all four provinces.
A large number of Hurriyat leaders and people, including the Foreign Office Spokesperson and Advisor on Kashmir Affairs Qamar-ul-Zaman Kaira, participated in a Kashmir day rally. The rally was taken out by the Foreign Office to the parliament house in the federal capital of Islamabad.
On behalf of the Pakistani nation, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif sent a message of solidarity to the people of Kashmir. The PM stated that the people of Pakistan are united to express unwavering solidarity and support with the Kashmiri people. The people of Occupied Kashmir are tirelessly struggling for freedom from Indian usurpation. The Kashmiri people have kept the torch of freedom burning with their sacrifices, he added.
Furthermore, President Dr. Arif said that Pakistan supports the Kashmiri people in their legitimate and fair struggle for their inalienable right to self-determination. The President paid a great tribute to the sacrifices of the people of Kashmir.
