The birth anniversary of Hazrat Ali is being celebrated with great respect and honour throughout the world today. 13 Rajab al-Marjib is marked as the birth anniversary of Hazrat Ali (May Allah be pleased with him). Hazrat Ali (R.A) was the last of the four caliphates of Islam who led the Muslims after the demise of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). He was also the first Shia Imam.
Hazrat Ali (RA) is known within the Islamic tradition by a number of titles, some reflecting his personal qualities and others derived from particular episodes of his life. They include Abū al-Ḥasan “Father of Ḥasan”, Abū Turāb “Father of Dust”, Murtazā “One Who Is Chosen and Contented”, Asadullah “Lion of God”, and Ḥaydar “Lion”.
In this regard, special gatherings and ceremonies are organized at various places including mosques, imam bargahs, in the country. Scholars and khateebs would pay homage to the great sacrifices offered for the cultivation of Islam, describing the virtues of Caliph Hazrat Ali (RA) after maghrib prayers. Special programs will be aired on government and private TV channels.
