The coal-fired power plant of Thar Coal Block-I Coal Electricity Integration Project under CPEC officially started commercial operation.
Meng Dong Hai, the head of this project, said that this plant with a total production capacity of 1,320 megawatts will provide about 9 billion kilowatt hours of clean electricity to the National Grid of Pakistan annually, which will meet the energy demand of about 40 lakh local families in the country.
This will help in reducing the cost of energy, improving the energy structure, ending the crisis in energy imports and strengthening the energy security of Pakistan, he added.
