The High Court suspended the cases filed against Awami Muslim League chief Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed in Mochko and Lasbela.
Justice Tariq Mahmood Jahangiri of Islamabad High Court heard the petition of Sheikh Rasheed to cease his transfer to Karachi and hold contempt of court against the police.
Sheikh Rasheed’s lawyer stated that an FIR against Sheikh Rasheed was registered in Mochko Karachi. The court inquired if the place where the statement was given was a polyclinic hospital, and how an FIR was registered in Karachi too. The court therefore restrained the police from acting on the cases registered against Sheikh Rasheed in Mochko (Karachi) and Lasbela (Balochistan).
Furthermore, the Islamabad High Court issued notices to the Attorney General and Advocate General suspending the FIRs registered against Sheikh Rasheed in Mochako and Lasbela. The court also issued notices to the bar councils in this regard.
