China has said that the shooting down of the balloon has damaged relations with the US.
According to the statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, the efforts of the parties to strengthen mutual relations have been affected after the US downed a Chinese balloon.
The statement added that China is evaluating the situation and reserves the right to react. Earlier, China expressed its displeasure over the downing of the alleged spy balloon, calling it a violation of international law by the United States.
On Saturday, the United States shot down an alleged Chinese spy balloon flying at 60,000 feet near the Carolina coast. According to China, the balloon was not a spy but an airship sent to collect weather data which strayed into US airspace.
