The Lahore High Court declared the collection of fuel adjustment and other surcharges on the electricity bills illegal. The court also directed the government to generate electricity from alternative sources such as solar and nuclear, while ordering Nepra to take action against those overcharging.
Justice Ali Baqir Najafi of Lahore High Court heard 3659 applications of different nature. Before the court, advocate Azhar Siddique and other lawyers had taken the stand that the government has illegally imposed fuel adjustment charges on the electricity bills due to which consumers have been sent increased electricity bills.
