The rising inflation and the heavy taxes imposed by the government has largely contributed to the non-availability of essential drugs in the government hospitals in Pakistan.
For instance, patients are in dire straits due to the non-availability of medicine used for CT scan in Hayatabad Medical Complex, a government hospital in Peshawar, who are forced to buy medicines from the market for Rs 5,000 to 6,000 which previously were free of cost.
The pharmacy of Hayatabad Medical Complex stated that LCAs have been closed in the country for a long time due to which the supply of life-saving medicines and other supplies has been considerably affected.
The authorities further stated that for the last one month the hospital has been facing a severe shortage of medicine. However, despite the unfavorable circumstances, we are putting every possible effort to facilitate the patients into buying medicine from the authorized dealers.
