A local media outlet has been served a legal notice by Aima Baig which dug out an old interview of hers and reported that the singer claimed to have a crush on her brother, seven years older than her.
Disgusted by the “shameless yellow journalism” and allegations put against her, the singer shared pictures of the court document on her Instagram Story and urged her industry colleagues also to take a stand against fake reporting.
The post read, “This is high time when we should stand against yellow journalism and fake reporting (which is only done for the sake of comments and likes). I have had enough, so I am standing up for myself and many others from becoming their next prey.”
The defamation suit demanded Rs100 million in damages from the publication and to tender an unconditional and written apology within 48 hours of receiving the notice. The apology as stated in the suit is also demanded to be published on all their social media platforms including Instagram, Facebook, YouTube and Twitter, with the untrue news report deleted as well.
