A group of Engineers from the University of California Los Angeles’ Department of Robotics have developed a football robot that can run, jump and perform other tricks. Interestingly, the robot is claimed to be ‘better than Messi’.
The robot named Artemis, which stands for ‘A Robot That Exceeds Messy In Soccer’ is a female robot that is eager to take part in international competitions. Currently there are only three robots in the world that have the ability to run and jump.
Dennis Hong and his colleagues, the experts behind the remarkable creation, are undertaking the robot through several testing phases. The robot is anticipated to participate in the World RoboCup 2023 where 2500 robot footballers from around the world will participate.
Like any football competition, the RoboCup will have several leagues. Although there will be robots up to five inches in the competition, Artemis is surely to stand out as it is a human-sized robot that maintains its excellent balance while walking and can walk on uneven surfaces.
However, the credibility of Artemis will only be known once it shows off its skills in the tournament.
