Nine people have been killed and hundreds injured so far due to the magnitude 6.8 earthquake that hit the country on Tuesday.
Earthquake tremors were felt in various countries of South Asia, including the three provinces of Pakistan, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Balochistan. The earthquake occurred at 9:47 p.m., the shocks of which were felt for a long time.
Due to the earthquake, Swat district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has been the most affected, where rescue work is also going on. The epicenter of the earthquake was Afghanistan’s Hindu Kush mountains and the depth was 180 km.
The Provincial Disaster Management Authority of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has issued a report on the damage caused by the earthquake. According to the report, 20 houses have been partially damaged by the earthquake, while two children and two women are also among the dead.
Moreover, a woman was killed and 60 people were injured in lower Dir, whereas 5 were killed while 263 people were injured in Malakand division.
According to hospital sources, 193 injured were brought to Saidu Sharif Hospital, in which 93 were injured or the rest fainted due to fear and 18 patients were still admitted while the rest were discharged.
