The boat of late President of Iraq, Saddam Hussein, lying upside down in a river in southern Iraq, has turned into an amusement spot for the public.
According to media reports, the rusted wreckage of Saddam Hussein’s boat lying in the river is a reminder of his dictatorial rule that ended with the US invasion of the country two decades ago.
The 121-meter-long boat named “Al-Mansour” was a symbol of Saddam Hussein’s wealth and power. Built by Saddam Hussein for himself, today it serves as a picnic point for tourists and fishermen who come there to relax and spend their leisure time.
Hussain Sabahi, a local fisherman, said that when the boat was owned by the former president, no one could go near it. “I can’t believe that this was Saddam Hussein’s personal boat and now I’m sitting on it,” he added.
