The beast, a rare vehicle in Britain that has been installed with a World War II aircraft engine, has been auctioned for $87,000. In 1972, Paul Jameson, a British engineer and the maker of the car, installed the Rolls Royce Merlin V12 engine in it for which the structure of the vehicle had to be completely changed.
Paul redesigned the outer shell of the car with the help of fiberglass. In 1977, it was certified as the world’s most powerful car by the Guinness Book of World Records. It was claimed to achieve a top speed of 418 km/h but was not demonstrated in practice.
However, the Rolls Royce company filed a legal case against him and Paul moved from the UK to Spain as the company won the case. After Paul’s death last year, his family announced the auction of the car, and it recently sold for just $87,000. However, it is very difficult to drive and can only get up to two and a half miles per gallon and is also prohibitively expensive to operate.
