Imran Khan Defends PTI Against Allegations and Criticizes PDM
Imran Khan, during his media appearance, refuted claims made by the Punjab caretaker information minister, who accused him of harboring terrorists responsible for the May 9 riots in his Lahore residence. The PTI chairperson invited the media to inspect his house, highlighting that the allegations were baseless. He further criticized the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) for its actions and human rights violations, asserting that the country could not function on a foundation of fear. Imran Khan blamed the PDM for tarnishing Pakistan’s image and trapping itself by arbitrarily arresting thousands of people.
Imran Khan defended the PTI’s strength as a political party, stating that its significant vote bank ensured its resilience against any challenges. He dismissed concerns about the current wave of arrests and crackdowns on PTI workers and supporters, claiming that such measures were unprecedented, even during the regime of late General Pervez Musharraf. Imran Khan accused the opposition, particularly the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and its leader, Nawaz Sharif, of attempting to crush the PTI.
Regarding his announcement of holding public processions, Imran Khan justified the decision by highlighting that elections were just a year away. He argued that rallies and public gatherings were a common practice in democratic nations prior to elections, questioning the journalist on which country refrained from such activities.
