An unfortunate incident unfolded in Makkah Mukarramah as a fierce fire engulfed a hotel on Ibrahim Khalil Road, resulting in the devastating loss of 8 Pakistani Umrah pilgrims. The incident occurred during the night, leaving authorities and the local community in deep sorrow.
According to official reports, the victims have been identified as men and women hailing from the regions of Qasur and Burewala in Pakistan. As the flames raged on the third floor of the hotel, the pilgrims faced a horrifying fate, cutting short their spiritual journey.
Regrettably, this incident is not the first of its kind. Just a few months ago, a similar tragedy struck the Aseer Region of Saudi Arabia, where a bus carrying Umrah pilgrims caught fire in the Al-Aqaba area. Shockingly, 20 individuals lost their lives on the spot, and 29 more were severely injured.
In a tragic turn of events, two critically injured individuals succumbed to their injuries during treatment at the hospital, bringing the total death toll to a devastating 22. The ill-fated bus was carrying Saudi nationals and foreign visitors who were en route to Makkah Mukarramah for their Umrah pilgrimage.
To prevent further accidents and ensure the safety of pilgrims, authorities must address the pressing issue of safety measures and regulations within the holy cities.
