In the grip of scorching temperatures, India is currently experiencing a severe heatwave, resulting in the tragic loss of almost 100 lives so far. According to international media reports, the states of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, with the highest population density in the country, are currently facing an intense heatwave, leading to a staggering count of 96 fatalities in recent days.
In response to the extreme heat, authorities have issued directives for residents of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar to take precautionary measures. This includes advising individuals above the age of 60 and those with existing medical conditions to remain indoors, as well as urging people to avoid unnecessary outdoor activities during the afternoon hours.
Media reports highlight that Uttar Pradesh has reported 54 fatalities due to the heatwave, with the highest number of deaths occurring in the Ballia district, located approximately 200 kilometers away from Lucknow. Additionally, Bihar has witnessed the loss of 42 lives during the past two scorching days, while over 200 patients suffering from heat-related illnesses, including heatstroke and dehydration, have been admitted to hospitals.
