Pakistan’s special athletes have received a rousing welcome across the country after their exceptional performance at the Special Olympics World Games held in Berlin, Germany.
The athletes won more than 80 gold medals in various sports, including athletics, powerlifting, swimming, tennis, hockey and basketball. They also won the hearts of the world with their good morals and attitude as representatives of their country.
To celebrate their achievements, a special ceremony was held at the German Consulate in Karachi, where Consul General Dr Rudiger Lotz praised the athletes for their determination, hard work and success. He said that Pakistan’s athletes are the best—second to none in the world.
Special Olympics Pakistan Advisor Yasmin Haider thanked Dr Lotz for his support and said that the German Embassy in Islamabad and Karachi had facilitated the visa process for the athletes.
She said that the special athletes have proven that they are inferior to none in their abilities and talents. The athletes also received gifts from the host and applause from the guests.
The opposition parties, however, criticised the government for not giving enough recognition and support to the special athletes. They demanded that the government should honour them with national awards and provide them with better facilities and opportunities.
