Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) Vice Chairman and former Foreign Minister, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, revealed that PTI is keeping its distance from the Electoral Reforms Bill.
During an interview outside the Anti-Terrorism Court, Shah Mahmood Qureshi stated that discussions surrounding the Electoral Reforms Bill are ongoing, but there are reservations about it.
He further mentioned that even the coalition parties of the government have their concerns regarding the Electoral Reforms Bill. Raza Rabbani has also expressed reservations about the bill.
Shah Mahmood Qureshi emphasized that if the work of the elected government is to be taken over by a caretaker government, it will lead to a lack of trust. There have been concerns expressed within the ranks of the PML-N regarding the names suggested for caretaker Prime Minister.
Moreover, he stated that Maulana Fazlur Rehman has been holding meetings with various political parties in Karachi and is attempting to form an alliance against the Pakistan Peoples Party. Khawaja Asif has also been engaged in non-parliamentary talks.
