21-year-old Aijaz Ahmed becomes one of the 54 victims who lost their lives in a tragic suicide bombing in Bajaur yesterday. Just eleven days ago, Aijaz tied the knot with his beloved, and the newlyweds were eagerly planning their future together.
Aijaz Ahmed, a skilled craftsman, had no affiliations with any political group and was known for his kind demeanor. According to his uncle, Irfanullah, on the day of the blast, Aijaz visited his shop at the local bazaar in the morning, where his friends invited him for a trip.
A Fateful Outing Turned Tragic
Irfanullah recalls Aijaz as a man of integrity who cherished moments with friends. Their gathering was meant to be a joyful outing, but it tragically ended in devastation when the explosion rocked the vicinity, leaving Aijaz severely injured.
His bride, still unaware of the tragedy, eagerly awaited his return home. Little did she know that her world was about to shatter. When Aijaz’s younger brother contacted her, he told her that Aijaz had been injured but reassured her that he would be fine. She prepared a traditional meal for his return, not knowing that it would be their last meal together.
A Family Stricken with Grief
As the news spread, grief engulfed the entire neighborhood. Shahid, Aijaz’s cousin, also fell victim to the blast, further adding to the family’s anguish. Both families were unaware of the tragedy and had sent Aijaz’s wife and other relatives to offer condolences to Shahid’s family, not knowing that they were mourning their own loss as well.
The Homecoming of a Son
The lifeless body of Aijaz was brought back to Bajaur from Peshawar around 1 a.m., and his home turned into a place of sorrow. His mother and newlywed wife were too distraught to speak or eat. The loss of Aijaz has left a void in their hearts that words cannot describe.
The bombing in Bajaur, which occurred during a congregation of Islamic scholars, has shaken the entire community. The pain and suffering of the families who lost their loved ones will forever be etched in the memories of the survivors.
