Jamaat-e-Ulema Islam (F) leader Maulana Fazlur Rehman has stated that incidents like the Bajaur attack are attempts to sever his party’s connection with the public. However, such actions haven’t stopped his party’s path before, and they won’t now.
As per a press release issued by JUI-F, Maulana Fazlur Rehman emphasized that their struggle against such hostile actions won’t waver their beliefs and principles.
He questioned if state institutions are now limited to arresting a poor cleric from a mosque and accusing him of petty crimes like having food or tea. “We have 26 intelligence agencies in Pakistan, but where are they?” he asked.
He referred to the Bajaur attack as a significant intelligence failure, expressing his concerns about whether the state can protect him or not. He questioned if the state would only collect taxes from him and not ensure his safety and wellbeing.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman further stated that he sacrificed for the state’s survival and stability, but a single party alone cannot accomplish anything; the entire nation is witnessing the state’s functioning.
In response to the Bajaur attack, JUI-F has first convened a meeting of tribal elders and then planned a central Majlis-e-Shura meeting to assess the current situation.
Recall that a suicide attack occurred during JUI-F’s workers’ convention on Sunday, resulting in precious lives lost and several injured.
During the incident, Maulana Fazlur Rehman was in Dubai but returned to Pakistan after receiving the news to cut short his trip.
