Nawaz Sharif, along with Maryam Nawaz, Aleem Khan, and Atta Tarar’s electoral victories face legal challenges as Lahore High Court (LHC) has scheduled hearings for the petitions.
Independent candidate Istiqaq Chaudhry, who contested from National Assembly constituency NA-130, has filed a petition in Lahore High Court challenging Nawaz Sharif’s victory, alleging irregularities including the omission of Returning Officer (RO) and Election Commission officials from the petitioner’s side.
The petition asserts that according to Form 45, Nawaz Sharif has lost. He declared himself victorious in Form 47, yet the results of Form 45 are available. Similarly, a challenge has been lodged against Maryam Nawaz’s success from Lahore’s NA-119 constituency. In the petition, supported by PTI-backed independent candidate Shahzad Farooq, it’s argued that Presiding Officers did not issue Form 45. The Returning Officer also did not issue any notice. The Returning Officer, in the absence of Maryam Nawaz, compiled the results and declared her victory.
In addition, Aleem Khan’s victory from National Assembly constituency NA-117 faces a challenge at Lahore High Court. The petitioner, Zahir Abbas Khokhar, alleges that Aleem Khan has lost according to Form 45. He declared himself victorious in Form 47, yet the results of Form 45 are available.
Additionally, the success of Atta Tarar in National Assembly constituency NA-127 is being contested in Lahore High Court. Zahid Abbas Khokhar, the petitioner, claims that Tarar’s victory contradicts the results reported in Form 45. The court is urged to order the release of Form 45 results, restrain the Election Commission from announcing final results, and order a recount while declaring Form 47 results null and void.
