A video of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders Sher Afzal Marwat and Barrister Gohar Ali Khan hugging and kissing each other on the cheeks has gone viral on social media, showing a sign of reconciliation after a bitter spat.
The video was reportedly taken on Saturday, a day after Marwat made derogatory remarks against Gohar, the former chairman of the party, on a TV talk show. Marwat had accused Gohar of being incompetent and poor in performance, and claimed that he was removed from his position for failing to meet the workers’ expectations.
Marwat’s comments drew a strong reaction from the party leadership, which issued him a show-cause notice and asked him to submit a written apology within two days. The notice said that Marwat’s statement had created a tense situation and violated the party’s discipline and code of conduct.
However, it seems that the two leaders have buried the hatchet and resolved their differences amicably. The video shows them embracing each other warmly and exchanging pleasantries, while other party members look on with smiles.
The gesture of goodwill has been appreciated by many PTI supporters and followers, who praised the leaders for showing maturity and unity. Some also joked that the kiss was a symbol of love and brotherhood in the party.
The PTI is gearing up for its intra-party elections, scheduled to take place on March 3. The party has nominated Barrister Ali Zafar as its candidate for the chairman slot, while Omar Ayub has been chosen for the secretary general post.
