Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has swiftly moved to address internal discord by taking stern action against one of its prominent members, Sher Afzal Marwat. Marwat’s recent remarks have ignited controversy within the party, prompting PTI to issue a show-cause notice as a disciplinary measure.
The catalyst for PTI’s decisive action was Marwat’s critical comments, which he made just a day prior. He questioned the competence of Barrister Ali Zafar’s nomination, suggesting it was a consequence of alleged shortcomings by Barrister Gohar Ali Khan and mishandling of post-election affairs by PTI leadership. Marwat’s assertion that Barrister Gohar should have taken a more prominent role post-election, alongside his critique of Gohar’s performance, has unsettled PTI circles.
Despite Marwat expressing support for Barrister Ali Zafar’s candidacy for PTI Chairman in the upcoming intra-party elections, he did not hold back in expressing his dissatisfaction with Barrister Gohar’s alleged lackluster performance.
In response, PTI has demanded Marwat issue a formal apology within a strict two-day deadline. Emphasizing the importance of unity and discipline, particularly with crucial intra-party elections on the horizon, PTI leadership is determined to maintain cohesion within its ranks.
