The Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) stationed at Thana Waris Khan in Rawalpindi has been apprehended for subjecting a kite enthusiast to severe brutality, transforming a simple kite-flying incident into a harrowing tale of violence.
The incident came to light when a video depicting the heinous act surfaced, prompting the Chief Police Officer (CPO) to take immediate action by suspending the ASI and initiating legal proceedings against him.
According to reports, the youth, who was detained for kite-flying, faced not only physical abuse but also endured relentless threats from ASI Shahzad. The victim was allegedly warned of dire consequences, with Shahzad menacingly asserting his intent to take extrajudicial measures.
Following the circulation of the video capturing the extreme violence perpetrated against the civilian, CPO Rawalpindi, Khalid Hamdani, swiftly intervened, ordering an inquiry led by SP Rawalpindi, Faisal Saleem. Subsequently, the ASI was relieved of his duties and placed under arrest pending further investigation.
Expressing his firm stance against police misconduct, CPO Rawalpindi emphasized a zero-tolerance policy towards any form of unruly behavior by law enforcement personnel.
