The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has made a resounding call for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, condemning the ongoing aggression against the Palestinian people and urging urgent aid delivery. The 15th OIC Summit Conference in Banjul, The Gambia, emphasized the need to halt the genocide by Israeli forces and implement measures from the International Court of Justice.
The OIC’s declaration at the summit highlighted solidarity with Gaza, stressing support for Palestinian rights, including self-determination and statehood with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as the capital. The conference urged adherence to international law, UN resolutions, and an end to illegal occupation and apartheid policies in Palestinian territories.
Emphasizing the protection of Al-Quds Al-Sharif’s Islamic identity, the OIC called for unity among Palestinians under the PLO. The summit recognized African support for Palestinian struggles and urged resolution of historical injustices, drawing parallels with Kashmir’s plight.
Addressing global concerns, the OIC expressed solidarity with persecuted minorities in India and condemned Islamophobia worldwide. Efforts to combat intolerance, terrorism, and discrimination were underscored, alongside calls for SDG implementation and protection of vulnerable groups.
The OIC’s summit concluded with a call for peaceful resolutions in Afghanistan, accountability for Rohingya atrocities, and action against Quran burning and Islamophobia. The commitment to Islamic values, sustainable development, and future planning through the OIC-2025 Programme of Action showcased a united front for progress and unity within the Muslim world.
