The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government recently presented a substantial budget proposal for the fiscal year 2023-24, totaling an estimated 1360 billion rupees. This significant allocation, exceeding 1300 billion rupees, was presented in the assembly under the leadership of Speaker Babar Salim Swati. Finance Minister Aftab Alam highlighted key aspects of the budget, emphasizing the government’s commitment to prudent financial management.
During the assembly session, Finance Minister Aftab Alam outlined the budget details, revealing a total estimate of 1360 billion rupees for the fiscal year 2023-24. Of this amount, current expenditures are projected at 1059 billion rupees, with developmental expenses set at 301 billion rupees. The minister also referenced the interim budget for the previous fiscal year, 2022-23, which amounted to 306 billion 52 crore rupees.
The budget presentation was not without its share of drama, as opposition members briefly walked out during the proceedings. However, Akbar Ayub, a member of the Sunni Ittehad Council, successfully mediated the situation, leading to the return of the opposition members to the assembly.
