New developments have emerged in the recent attack on Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) central secretary of information, Raoof Hassan. CCTV footage from the incident reveals that the assailants were transgender individuals. The attack took place in Islamabad’s G-7 sector, prompting a swift response from the Aabpara police.
The footage, which has gone viral on social media, shows a group of transgender individuals approaching Hassan before launching the assault. This revelation has added a new dimension to the incident, raising questions about the motive behind the attack and highlighting the complexities of social dynamics in the country.
Following the incident, PTI members and supporters expressed their fury and demanded immediate action. The matter was brought to the Senate, where it caused significant disruption. Opposition members staged a walkout, calling for accountability and increased security for political figures.
Senator Shibli Faraz addressed the Senate, emphasizing the severity of the situation. “Our party’s spokesperson, Raoof Hassan, has been attacked. The interior minister must come forward with an explanation,” he urged. The session faced further challenges when Federal Minister for Law, Azam Nazeer Tarar, disclosed the absence of the interior minister but assured the Senate that he would seek information from the relevant authorities.
“Raoof Hassan should lodge a formal complaint. The law will take its course,” Tarar stated, attempting to calm the agitated senators.
The attack has not only raised concerns about the safety of political figures but has also flared a broader discussion about the rights and treatment of transgender individuals in Pakistan. While the motive behind the attack remains unclear, the incident underlines the need for comprehensive investigations and the establishment of stronger security protocols.
