Funeral prayers of Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister Amir-Abdollahian, along with other officials who lost their lives in a recent helicopter crash, will be held today in Tabriz.
The Iranian state media has attributed the cause of the accident to a technical failure in the helicopter, stating that the wreckage was located by Iranian drones in a forested and mountainous area.
Cities like Mashhad and Qom have been in a state of mourning following Raisi’s demise, and Iran will observe five days of national mourning starting today.
On the other hand, Vice President Mohammad Mokhber has assumed presidential responsibilities, while Ali Bagheri-Kani, Iran’s nuclear negotiator, has been appointed as the acting Foreign Minister. The interim president will oversee the presidential election, which is scheduled to take place within the next 50 days.
The tragic incident has left the nation in a state of shock and grief, as the country bids farewell to its esteemed leaders. The funeral prayers will serve as a solemn tribute to the departed souls and a moment of unity for the Iranian people.
