Pakistan’s esteemed senior actor, director, and voice artist Talat Hussain has passed away at the age of 84. His daughter confirmed the sad news, revealing that he had been under treatment in a private hospital for an extended period.
Born in Delhi, India, in 1940, Talat Hussain moved to Pakistan and became a prominent figure in the entertainment industry. According to Ahmed Shah, President of the Karachi Arts Council, Hussain had been admitted to the ICU of a private hospital and had been a long-standing member and part of the governing body of the Arts Council.
“Talat Hussain was not only a phenomenal artist but also a wonderful human being,” said Ahmed Shah. “He graced numerous local and international films and dramas with his remarkable acting skills.”
The showbiz community in Pakistan has expressed deep sorrow over his demise. Colleagues and fans alike remember him fondly for his contributions to the industry. Hussain was married to academic Professor Rakhshanda Hussain and was a father to three children, including two daughters and a son.
Talat Hussain began his acting career at a young age before 1970. Educated in London, he started with Pakistan Television (PTV) and later expanded his work to British television and Bollywood films. His career was marked by numerous accolades. In 1982, he received the Pride of Performance Award from the Government of Pakistan, and in 2021, he was honored with the Sitara-i-Imtiaz (Star of Excellence).
Internationally, Hussain was recognized with the Amanda Award for Best Supporting Actor in the Norwegian film “Import-Export” in 2006, and the Nigar Award for Best Supporting Actor in the film “Miss Bangkok” in 1986.
Talat Hussain’s legacy as a versatile and talented actor will continue to inspire generations to come.
