Demonstrators brought traffic to a standstill on the Pak-Afghan Highway, protesting against alleged police misconduct and extortion.
According to the Business Bargain Association, the highway closure aimed to draw attention to rampant extortion and unlawful practices by Jamrud Police. Protesters accused the police of conducting illegal raids, detaining three individuals, and extorting a hefty sum of 13 million rupees.
The demonstrators claimed that SHO Jamrud filed false cases under Section 107 against two individuals, falsely accusing one named Shakir Wali of heroin possession.
In response, the police countered these allegations, stating that the incident did not occur at the Bargain but during an operation on Khurki Abad Road. During the operation, suspicions arose, leading to the seizure of 12 kilograms of heroin from a motorcycle rider, valued at millions of rupees.
The police identified the suspect as Shakir Wali, son of Anwar Wali, and transferred him to the Jamrud police station for further legal action.
