Defense Minister Khawaja Asif, addressing the National Assembly, voiced opposition to any military intervention inside Afghanistan, stating that Pakistan reserves the right to respond if terrorism emanates from Afghan soil, in defense of its people and nation.
Following his statement, opposition parties convened an urgent session, demanding strict adherence to non-interference in the affairs of other countries.
Opposition leader Omar Ayub, speaking in the National Assembly, criticized Defense Minister Khawaja Asif’s remarks, cautioning against initiating attacks inside Afghanistan. He emphasized that further conflict and destabilization are risks the region cannot afford, asserting that military incursions into Afghanistan could escalate tensions across the entire region.
Asad Qaiser emphasized Pakistan’s foreign policy stance of neither intervening nor allowing intervention, stressing that the economies of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and FATA rely heavily on stability in Afghanistan. He suggested that PTI’s relations with Afghanistan could be leveraged positively.
