The Supreme Court has taken action against 34 TV channels, issuing contempt notices that require a response within two weeks, signed by their respective owners.
Chief Justice Faiz Isa, alongside Justices Aqeel Abbasi and Naheed Afghan, has initiated this action following a contempt of court case involving Faisal Vawda and Mustafa Kamal against the channels.
The court’s directive mandates the delivery of these notices via courier, demanding that each channel’s operational head and owners or shareholders provide signed responses within the stipulated timeframe.
Legal expert Safi Faiz Siddiqui commented that initial responses have been submitted, yet notably, these bear signatures not from channel owners but from Siddiqui himself. This situation appears consistent across all channels, with the court expressing dissatisfaction upon review of these responses.
