The United Nations has issued a grave warning about the dangers posed to Palestinian children in Gaza by unexploded bombs left behind in the aftermath of Israeli airstrikes.
According to reports from the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), numerous unexploded bombs litter Gaza, presenting a significant peril to Palestinian civilians, especially children.
Highlighting recent incidents, OCHA reported a tragic event on June 29, where a nine-year-old girl lost her life and three others were injured when an unexploded bomb detonated south of Khan Younis. In two separate incidents, eight children sustained injuries from similar unexploded ordnances.
The UN Mine Action Service (UNMAS) has underscored that up to 10% of the munitions deployed during the conflict remain undetonated. This situation means a substantial amount of unexploded ordnance remains scattered throughout Gaza, posing ongoing threats to civilian lives.
