Chaos erupted in Rawalpindi as clashes broke out between Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) supporters and the police at Committee Chowk. PTI workers removed containers set up by the authorities, chanting slogans in defiance. In large numbers, they began marching towards Liaquat Bagh, intensifying the situation.
To disperse the crowd, the police resorted to heavy shelling of tear gas, turning the area into a battleground. The scene was particularly tense on Murree Road, as the clashes between the police and PTI supporters escalated from Committee Chowk to Liaquat Bagh. The protesters retaliated by throwing stones at the police. Sensing the severity of the situation, additional police reinforcements were called in to control the chaos.
Tear gas shells continued to rain down on the protesters, with several shells landing in nearby homes, leaving women and children in distress. Reports have surfaced of civilians experiencing breathing difficulties, and journalists on the scene also came under the effects of the shelling, further adding to the turmoil.
