Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai has strongly condemned the Taliban’s detrimental impact on education systems, drawing parallels between the challenges faced by children in Gaza and those in Taliban-controlled regions. She emphasized the Taliban’s ongoing suppression of education, particularly for girls, as a violation of fundamental human rights.
Malala highlighted how the Taliban’s restrictions, including bans on girls attending schools and universities, have created a bleak future for millions. “The Taliban have not only destroyed schools but also shattered the dreams of young girls striving for a better future,” she stated.
Malala, who survived an attack by the Taliban in 2012 for advocating girls’ education, stressed that the world cannot stand idle while extremist groups like the Taliban continue to suppress education. “Education is the most powerful tool to combat oppression, yet the Taliban seek to silence it,” she added.
She called on the international community to take decisive action to ensure education for all, irrespective of political and ideological barriers. Malala also urged global leaders to recognize education as a fundamental right and prioritize support for children in conflict-ridden areas.
