PESHAWAR: Two patients infected with the potentially deadly Congo virus are undergoing treatment at Hayatabad Medical Complex (HMC), with doctors confirming their conditions are now stable.
The patients, both livestock workers from Karak district, were admitted to HMC on consecutive days. Ijaz, 28, arrived in critical condition on June 14, followed by 23-year-old Sufiyan on June 15.
“Hospital staff promptly provided necessary care and both patients are now out of danger,” an HMC spokesperson told media.
The Congo virus, or Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever, spreads primarily through tick bites or contact with infected animal blood.
Health officials have warned livestock workers to take extra precautions during the summer months when cases typically rise.
