Peshawar: Another life was lost to the dengue virus in Peshawar today. The death toll raised to a total of 13.
The rise in the number of Dengue patients each day in Peshawar never seems to cease. 398 new cases of the virus were reported in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the last 24 hours by the Department of Health.
As recorded by the Health Department, the total number of Dengue patients in KP has reached 13221. 44 more patients have been admitted to several hospitals in the province.
Most of the cases of the Dengue virus in the province in the last 24 hours were reported in Peshawar. Of 398 patients, 179 belonged to the capital of the province. The total number of the affected patients in Peshawar has reached up to 5415.
53 cases of dengue virus have been reported in Mardan. The total number has increased to 2947 in the District. Moreover, 26 cases of the virus were reported from Sawabi, bringing the total number to 217.
The active cases of Dengue virus in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have reached 2 thousand 557, as reported by the Department of Health.
The current rise in dengue cases, a mosquito-borne viral disease, is mainly due to the floods that hit Pakistan in the months of August and September. The massive amount of stagnant water and the poor water disposal facilities breeds the dengue mosquito and hence the dengue virus. The consequences of which are incredibly overwhelming.
