Abbottabad: Due to the peril of violation of law and order and communal peace in Abbottabad district, the authorities in Abbottabad have inflicted a comprehensive ban on specific activities.
The law and order in Abbottabad has been evidently disrupted for the past few months. To prevent chaos and matters from getting out of hand, the district administration of Abbottabad has imposed a complete ban on specific activities for the next 15 days. Owing to the matter, the authorities have declared the following:
- Unlawful gatherings are prohibited.
- Illegal gatherings, rallies and processions are banned.
- The sale of open fuel (petrol and diesel) is prohibited.
- Illegal car parking is prohibited.
Furthermore, Section 144 for the aforementioned activities is applicable from Friday, October 14, 2022. The ban will remain for the next 15 days. The violators of the orders will be prosecuted according to the law.
Reference to section 144
Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) enables district administration to impose a ban on specific activities. The bann imposed will be in the best interest of the public, for a specific period of time.
The ban is then enforced by the police. The police are allowed to register cases under section 188 of the Pakistan Penal code if any violation of the prohibition is reported.
Besides, Section 188 carries a penalty of a maximum of 6 months in jail or a fine and, in some cases, both.
