Despite having no “apparent” connection with Pakistan or India, the people of the two countries have somewhat found a way to link the newly elected Prime minister of the UK to themselves.
Rishi Sunak’s grandparents originated from British India before the partition. Their birthplace was Gujranwala, which fortunately lies in Pakistan today. Sunak was born at Southampton General Hospital in Southampton, Hampshire, to parents of Indian descent.
