Accused of the well-known case of a tragic and sorrowful incident, where ATC Swat judge was murdered along with his 4 family members, acquitted by ASJ Sawabi on Friday.
On April 4, 2021, Aftab Afridi was going to Islamabad from Swat when his car came under fire at the Swabi Interchange on the Islamabad-Peshawar Motorway. Mr. Afridi, his wife Bibi Zainab, daughter Kiran, and three-year-old grandson Mohammad Sanan died on the spot while the driver, Jehangir, Khan was seriously injured.
The criminal case was registered at PS lagor, Swabi. uts 302/324/353/427/109/114 PPC r/w 7 ATA and 15 AA and challan were submitted before ATC Mardan. On deletion of 7ATA by the HIGH COURT, the case was transferred to ASJ Swabi.
The suspects, Abdul Latif Afridi, advocate Danish Afridi (ex-Civil Judge), Daud, Aziz, Zakir, Shahzad, and Bilal were arrested in connection to the murder on April 5, 2021.
The accused were acquitted after a year and a half on grounds that the complainant and PWs failed to prove their presence on the spot coupled with the unfair and dishonest investigation and obtaining confessional statements due to torture and illegal detention.
