As terrorism breeds its unsightly head once more in the country following the end of the ceasefire with Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, clerics in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa issued a fatwa against terrorists and terror movements on Monday.
Scholars of various schools of thought from KP have made a precise ruling against terrorism and proclaimed that taking up arms against the state’s police and the military is forbidden under Islamic law.
These clerics belonging to several different seminaries from the province, where most of the recent terrorist attacks were hauled out in the preceding year, declare that only the head of the Islamic state has the precedence to declare a holy war.
“Not everyone has the right to declare jihad,” the fatwa noted and added that avoiding compliance with the law is against Shariah.
It is further stated in the fatwa that taking up arms against the police and military personnel is against both Sharia and the state. Anyone who insists against the constitution and laws of Pakistan will be retaliated by law.
