Residents of a far-flung Australian backcountry metropolis were left baffled when they glimpsed fish falling out of the sky like rain. The incident took place in the town of Lajamanu, a small network in the arid Northern Territory, around 560 miles south of Darwin at some point during a heavy spell of rain and storm.
Mr. Japanangka, Central Desert Councilor, stated that the fish were nevertheless alive as they fell from the sky, and children in the town rushed to gather them and keep them in jars. Though he has witnessed the unusual phenomenon many times, Japanagka calls it a blessing from the lord.
According to weather experts, incidents like these can be resulting from robust updrafts, such as tornadoes, which suck water and fish from rivers. During a storm, they are carried for many kilometers earlier than they rain from the sky.
Incidentally, the same weird phenomenon has taken place in the community in the past. The same thing befell at Lajamanu in 2010, and it was formerly recorded in 2004 and 1974.
