A long-standing land ownership dispute between former Deputy Speaker Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, Mahmood Jan, and Isa Khel has once again escalated into a bloody clash, resulting in the loss of two lives and leaving many others injured. The Regi area of Peshawar has been plunged into deep tension, prompting the deployment of a heavy police force to restore order.
Chaos and Fear Grip the Area
Yesterday, another exchange of fire erupted over the disputed land, exacerbating the already volatile situation. In this violent encounter, heavy weapons were employed, trapping local residents in their homes and spreading a sense of severe fear and panic throughout the area. Tragically, two individuals, Niaz Muhammad and Yar Muhammad, lost their lives as a result, while several others sustained injuries.
As news of the clash spread, the authorities swiftly responded to the scene. The concerned Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Station House Officer (SHO), and a large contingent of police personnel arrived in armored vehicles to prevent further loss of life. Furthermore, opponents of Mahmood Jan and Isa Khel resorted to burning down 2 acres of wheat crops, intensifying the destructive aftermath.
Regrettably, this clash is not an isolated incident. The Regi area has been a hotbed of armed clashes between Mahmood Jan, a former Deputy Speaker of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, and local residents. These confrontations have claimed numerous lives over time, leading to the registration of several First Information Reports (FIRs) with the police.
